Volunteer as a Sports Coach – How you can help
You do not need to be a professional coach, or an exceptionally talented sports person to get involved with volunteering in sport in Africa. However, it does help if you at least enjoy and have a reasonable knowledge of playing a particular sport. Our sports volunteer projects involve children of different ages and abilities, or sometimes adults as well. Therefore, anyone with sports coaching skills will be put to very good use, trying to bring on the African sports stars of the future. Less experienced volunteers can train and play with the younger children, encouraging them to get involved in team sports, as opposed to filling their time in other ways.
Sports that are more commonly played and taught at our projects include football, netball, volleyball, basketball and rounders, but if you have a specific sport that you have experience coaching please let us know. It is great to be able to introduce new sports that are not as familiar in Africa and these are usually very well received.
